Ocean Breeze/Jensen Beach, FL

Over the past couple of weeks, the warm and sunny Florida weather that we all know and love has finally graced us with its presence again!

After a week of rain, the sun finally peeked out and we jumped at the opportunity to get off the boat and test out our new foldable bikes that we had recently purchased! Although they are still a little bulkier than we had hoped, they are much lighter than our last bikes, weighing in at just about 30 lbs each. I was happy to find that it only takes about 30 seconds to snap my bike into place. From previous experience, I know that if things are too difficult to mess with, then I typically just will not use them.

For our first outing with the bikes, we rode into downtown Ocean Breeze and checked out the art fair that was going on and then headed to Publix to pick up some charcuterie stuff for the boat. My Mom and 3 of her friends were vacationing in Cocoa Beach for the week and we had made plans to take them all out on the boat the next day!

After grabbing a few groceries, we stopped at Tako Tiki on the way back for a refreshing lunch under the palm trees. This cute little outdoor restaurant has live music every night and a relaxed, casual atmosphere! We each tried a few different variations of the street tacos and they were all delicious!

The next day, we moved our boat up to the public dock to pick up my Mom and her friends.

We had a lovely charcuterie board all made up for them along with a platter of fresh tropical fruit and some fun tropical cocktails, such as the Lime in Da Coconut!

Dustin drove everyone south to Manatee Pocket and Peck Lake and then we did a quick circle out into the ocean at Port St. Lucie Inlet before looping around and heading back to Jensen Beach. It was a little cooler out than we all would've liked that day, but it ended up being a fun day and everyone even got to see some dolphins! It was so good to see my Mama!

After the boat ride, we hopped in with my mom and her friends and drove over to Stuart to have some dinner. We strolled around the town and browsed in a couple of shops and then headed to the Boat House to eat. I don't remember what everyone else ordered, but Mom and I had some really delicious sushi!

After dinner, they all surprised Dustin and had sneakily ordered him a birthday dessert to celebrate his upcoming birthday! I thought that was so nice!

After dinner, they dropped us back off at the mooring field and we said goodbye! I had been looking forward to that day for weeks and it went by way too fast!

The next morning, we took the pineapple that we had used as the centerpiece for the charcuterie board and tried out the pineapple corer/slicer that my sister had bought for Dustin as a gift. He hollowed out the pineapple and then I used the fruit and some leftover ingredients from the day before, and made us delicious virgin pina coladas for breakfast! Everything tastes better when drinking it from a pineapple! :)

Later that day, Dustin and I walked back into town after work and stopped at Mulligan's Beach House for happy hour. I had one drink, he had 2, and we shared some pulled pork nachos, all for only $21.99!!! Can't beat that! They also claim to have a $3.99 breakfast deal that we'll definitely have to return for!

Throughout the week, we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went on little mini adventures after work as time would allow. One night, we took the dinghy across the ICW over to a little park that Dustin found on GoogleMaps called Joe's River Park. There is a small free dock, so we tied up the dinghy to go see what we could find!

There is a short boardwalk through the mangroves and then the park opens up to A1A/Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway that runs along the entire coast.

We walked until we found a public park with beach access and then headed over to the beach! We strolled along the shore listening to the waves crash, collecting shells, and watching all the different types of birds! The Sandpipers, Ibises and Killdeer were all hunting tiny crabs.

As the waves would roll in and out, the flock of Killdeer would run towards the water chasing crabs and then they'd quickly turn and run away from the waves as the water came back in. It was entertaining watching them continuously running back and forth instead of fly away.

We made it back to the boat in time for sunset that night.

My mom and all her friends ended up getting what they think was either Norovirus or Covid while on vacation and unfortunately, the day we saw them was about the only day they were able to do anything fun. The rest of their trip was spent sleeping and trying to get better. I felt so bad for them all but was happy that we were able to show them a good time for at least one day of their trip! Dustin ended up catching what the ladies had and was kind of under the weather for several days.

Over the weekend, Dustin was still not feeling great, but didn't want to waste the weekend, so we rode our bikes from the mooring field over the causeway to Jensen Beach. That first hill over the causeway was no joke! Especially since we hadn't rode bikes in a long while! My legs happily welcomed the descent on the other side and not having to peddle for a bit, but it was a little unnerving going that fast on bikes that we knew were designed to fold in half. LOL.

I was surprised to see how teal and clear the water was at Jensen Beach! It looked like the Caribbean and was such a beautiful gradient of turquoise and emerald colors! Dustin and I aren't really loungers when we go to the beach. We are always either walking, playing a game, swimming or collecting shells. We walked down each direction to take in the sights and the sun and it was so nice to be in a swimsuit in the sun again!

One of my favorite parts of traveling is all the different kind of wildlife we get to see! In Jensen Beach, there are these really cool looking little lizards called African Red-Headed Agamas, and they are bigger than a gecko but smaller than an iguana. They have an orange head and tail and a blue body. They are EVERYWHERE down here and as I walked across a grassy area heading back from the beach, they scurried every which direction in front of me!

We've been in Jensen Beach for about 3 weeks now and it's been fun getting to know the area and being close to our friends here! :)
